Whispering Pines RV Park and Campground
Whispering Pines is situated about 11 miles west of Morehead City, straight down the coastal road of Route 24. The campground has 145 campsites, most of which are meant to be rented out on a monthly or yearly basis. Only nine sites are specifically reserved for use at a nightly rate. All campsites in the park have full hook-ups, a fire ring, cable TV and telephone connections for an additional fee. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, coin laundry, basketball court, playground and a bathhouse. For on-site outdoor activities, Whispering Pines has its own fishing pond. The campground is also located just outside the boundaries of Croatan National Forest and less than half a mile from Nine Mile Road, which travels into the center of the forest and its 31 miles of hiking trails.

Coastal Riverside Campground
Situated 11 miles to the east of Morehead City on the banks of Salt Water Creek is Coastal Riverside Campground. Roughly half of the 53 campsites are set in an open lawn with no shade, while the other half have plenty of tree shade and abut a coastal marshland. All RV sites have full hook-ups, and the campground is equipped with a bathhouse and dump station. For on-site outdoor activities, Coastal Riverside Campground has a 320-foot fishing pier and a boat ramp with immediate access to the sheltered waters of Goose Bay and Back Sound, and from there the open Atlantic.

Goose Creek Resort
Due west of Whispering Pines and 15 miles from Morehead City is the Goose Creek Resort, a sprawling RV campground with over 700 campsites. Each site comes with full hook-ups (30- and 50-amp electricity) and picnic tables. The camping and RV facilities at Goose Creek include a dump station, bathhouse and camp store. Amenities include courts for basketball, volleyball and horseshoes, a swimming pool with a 135-foot water slide, playground and jet-ski rentals. On-site outdoor activities include use of a 250-foot fishing pier and a pair of boat ramps for launching watercraft onto Bogue Sound.
