Campgrounds Nearby Cushing, Minnesota

Cushing, Minnesota is an unincorporated area near Fish Trap Lake, and there are many more lakes in the immediate area. This northern Minnesota area is 115 miles northwest of Minneapolis and an outdoors enthusiast's paradise. There are literally thousands of lakes, more miles of trails than you can count, and more than enough campgrounds to have a base for a memorable outdoor adventure.

Fishtrap Lake Campground

Fishtrap Lake Campground and Resort is on the west end of Fishtrap Lake and has a variety of camping options. This campground offers daily as well as seasonal camping. There are also cabins you may rent, as well as tent and RV camping sites.



This park has restrooms, showers, a convenience store, swimming pool, lake access, as well as free use of canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. Fishtrap Resort offers 130 campsites with full hookups and some have 50-amp connections. Showers and bathrooms are available. Pets are allowed and there are pull-through sites.



Fishtrap offers fishing, mountain biking, golfing, archery and hiking trails around the lake.

Charles Lindbergh State Park

Charles Lindbergh State Park is 17 miles south of Cushing, and has enough interesting aspects to make it worth the short drive. The park is the site of the birthplace and home of the famous aviator's father. You may still see the cabin he lived in as well as a museum on the grounds. Here you may also fish or canoe at the beginning of the Mississippi River. There are many trails in the area for hiking in summer and skiing in winter.



The campground provides 38 sites, 15 of which have electricity and are available year round. There are two sites that are walk-in, meaning you cannot drive your vehicle to the site. There is also a group site for up to 30 people. The park has showers and bathrooms available. Park officials also manage the Birth Lake State Forest with 24 drive-in sites, five hike-in sites and a group camping area. There are no hookups.

Auger's Pine View Resort

Auger's Pine View Resort is a park operated by the state and is 15 miles north of Cushing. This park has several cabins along Lake Shamineau, and is noted for its walleye, northern pike, bass and crappie fishing. The resort overlooks an undeveloped shoreline and has spectacular colors in the fall.



The campground area has 37 sites, all with water and electric hookups. Hot showers and bathrooms are available, and there is a laundry facility.



Pets are allowed in the camping area. High-speed Internet is available and there is a grocery store. A swimming beach is located on the lake. You can check out canoes, kayaks and paddle boats without cost.
