Loreto is in the Baja, California region of Mexico. This area is known for its dry, desert climate and the deep blue waters of the Pacific. Whale watchers come to this region each year to watch the gray whales calf and breed. Sea kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities abound around Loreto.

For landlubbers, hiking trails and mountain biking routes criss-cross the deserts, and rock climbers find routes and bouldering problems throughout the area. RV travelers heading to the Loreto region have several options for parks and campgrounds.

If you are RVing down from the states, be sure to get the proper insurance. Failure to do so may result in the impounding of your RV as well as severe fines and tickets.

Loreto Shores Villas and RV Park

The staff is bilingual, speaking Spanish and English. A full guest house with bar, showers, toilets, a laundry room, fish cleaning station and a swimming pool overlooking the Sea of Cortez round out the guest amenities at the park. Tours, sea kayaking, whale watching and fishing charters may be arranged through the front desk.

Sites have 30-amp electric, potable water and sewer connections. Palms and other trees provide shade, useful for mid-afternoon siestas. The staff speaks English and Spanish. Private showers, toilets, barbecue grills and a guest house complete the offerings.

Wake in the morning and head out for some sea kayaking, one block away, before the afternoon winds kick up.
