Etoile, Texas is amidst the Angelina National Forest in the western end of Texas. The Forest's main attraction is the Rayburn Reservoir, a 142,700 reservoir hailed as premier largemouth bass fishing waters. The reservoir is also the focus of outdoor activities including camping. Campgrounds surround the water and range in type from small and secluded lakeside campgrounds to large, modern campgrounds with many sites and modern bathroom facilities.

Townsend Park

Townsend Park is on the eastern shore of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, south of Etoile. This park is more secluded than most of the others on the reservoir. The 19 rustic campsites in the park are small and set up for tents or small RVs. Lake access is available on site, as is drinking water and portable toilets. RVs can use the waste dumping station in Jackson Hill Park. Activities around the campground include hiking, swimming, boating and fishing.
