Fort Myers, Florida has been a popular vacation spot for a long time. Industrialist Henry Ford and inventor Thomas Edison vacationed there and tourists can still visit their winter homes. Fort Myers is a nice combination of beachfront, inland waterway and forest that sits on the Caloosahatchee River, where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico.

Tamiami Village & RV Park

Tamiami Village & RV Park welcomes long- and short-term campers. Next door is Tamiami Village, a more permanent development for people age 55 and older. The RV park has 242 sites with full hookups. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available. Cable TV and free wireless Internet are included. Many sites are pull-through. No tent camping is allowed. Campers share amenities with Tamiami Village. There is a heated swimming pool, shuffleboard court, horseshoes, pool tables, a small library, a laundry facility, showers and mail delivery. Planned activities are scheduled throughout the year. Beaches, golf courses, spring training baseball and the Everglades are all nearby.

Upriver Campground

Upriver Campground is literally up the Caloosahatchee River from Fort Myers. Paddlecreek Outfitters, which offers canoeing, rafting and boating trips, is close to the campground, which has more than 200 campsites with full hookups. Many sites are pull-through. Cable TV, free wireless Internet, laundry facilities, a library, restrooms and showers are all available. The campground also has a nine-hole golf course, a heated swimming pool and equipment for bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard. There also are scheduled activities throughout the year, including cruises, wine tasting, Christmas dinner and casino night..

San Carlos RV Park & Islands

San Carlos RV Park and Island Resort is halfway between Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach, on the bay at Calusa Blueway Marker 44. It can be accessed from the water as easily as from land. The resort is on an island, but can be reached by bridge by most RVs. The campground has more than 200 sites with full hookups and 50 amp service available. Cable TV and wireless Internet are included in your rental fee. Sites are on concrete pads and many of them are on the water. Fishing, kayaking and boating are major activities in the area. Fishing supplies can be purchased nearby. Kayaks and boats can be rented at the campground. San Carlos also has mobile homes it rents out.
