RV Camping Near Three Rivers, California

The town of Three Rivers, California, is in the central part of the state, 26 miles east of Visalia and nine miles from the Ash Mountain entrance into Sequoia National Park. Three forks of the Kaweah River intersect in the town. Hiking, biking, fishing, swimming and boating opportunities abound in the area. Enjoy your favorite water sports at nearby Lake Kaweah. According to Sarah Elliott, owner/publisher of "The Kaweah Commonwealth," numerous high-country lakes are accessible in the area by day hikes and backpack trips. Several RV camping areas are available close to this wilderness area.

Potwisha Campground

Potwisha Campground is four miles past the Ash Mountain Entrance to Sequoia National Park and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sites are $18 per night, and a $20 national park entrance fee is required, per vehicle, for a seven-day visit. The campground has 42 sites available for both tents and RVs up to 30 feet long. Potwisha is on the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River in a grove of oak trees, and campsites include picnic tables, fire grills, flush toilets, a dump station and drinking water. Ranger programs are offered during the summer months. Utility hookups aren't available. The campground is open year-round.

Sequoia RV Ranch

Sequoia RV Ranch is in Three Rivers along the shores of the scenic Kaweah River. The campground is open year-round and provides private, shady campsites. Fees range from $30 per night for water and electric only to $45 for a site with full utility hookups on the river. All sites include picnic tables and gravel pads, while some sites offer concrete patios and fire rings. The park is 15 minutes from the Foothills Visitor Center, just inside the entrance to Sequoia National Park and a one hour drive from the General Sherman tree, the largest living tree on Earth.

Horse Creek Campground

Horse Creek Campground is on the southern shore of Lake Kaweah in the town of Three Rivers. It offers 80 sites for tents or RV's up to 30 feet long. The campground is open year-round at a price of $16 per night. You'll want to plan for reservations over a summer weekend since Lake Kaweah is a popular spot for boating and water skiing. You'll enjoy fishing for bass, crappie and bluegill. During the winter and spring, the lake is stocked with rainbow trout. Sequoia National Park is a 15-minute drive away.
