Scranton, Pennsylvania, is located in the northeastern part of the state. Visitors can enjoy camping and a wide array of recreation in the area. Attractions include the Lackawanna River Valley and the Pocono Mountains. Campers can enjoy camping, fishing and boating in the city and its surrounding areas.

Hemlock Campground and Cottages

Hemlock Campground is nestled in the Pocono Mountains and is about half an hour away from Scranton. The camp offers RV sites, cottages and tent campsites in a rustic setting. Campsites are shaded, with amenities such as full hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, showers and laundry facilities. RV sites are equipped with 15-/30-amp service. Guests can stop by the camp store for supplies including groceries and firewood. Additionally, the campground features a swimming pool, horseshoes, a pool table, tether ball and a recreation hall. Tobyhanna State Park is just seven miles away for more recreation like hiking, mountain biking, swimming, boating and fishing. Anglers can fish in the170-acre Tobyhanna Lake and the 250-acre Gouldsboro Lake for game fish species like bass, brook trout, pickerel, sunfish, yellow perch and catfish.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park is situated right by the Tunkhannock Creek, less than half an hour away from Scranton. The park offers a variety of camping accommodations including RV sites, tent sites and cabin units. RV sites have full hookups, cable TV, wireless Internet connection, picnic tables and fire rings. Park amenities include a swimming pool, playgrounds, showers and laundry facilities. Guests can swim, fish and hike along nature trails at the Tunkhannock Creek.

Ironwood Point Recreation Area

Ironwood Point is located on the edge of Lake Wallenpaupack, about 30 minutes from Scranton. The camp offers 49 tent and RV sites, as well as 13 lakefront campsites for walk-in camping. Walk-in sites do not have parking, which requires campers to carry gear to their site. Site amenities include restrooms, shower and laundry facilities, a playground and a picnic pavilion. Campers have easy access to the lake for activities like shore fishing and boating. The camp also features a marina, a boat launch and a gas dock. Boat slips are available for rent. Fish species such as smallmouth bass, walleye, brown trout, striped bass and yellow perch inhabit the waters of Lake Wallenpaupack.
