Overgaard, Arizona area Campgrounds

The unincorporated town of Overgaard, Arizona, and its joined sister community, Heber, are located in Arizona's high country in a cool setting that's ideal for a summer camping expeditions. Many visitors take advantage of the surrounding mountains for hiking in the tall pines and fishing the cold mountain lakes. Camping season generally begins in May and runs through October. US 260 runs through both towns, providing easy access to Overgaard, Arizona campgrounds.

Elk Pines RV Resort

Campers can stay in one of 68 extra large sites with full hookups for campers staying in self-contained rigs. Guests have access to laundry facilities, clean showers and movie rentals. Wi-Fi Internet service is available throughout the resort. Guests who stay a month or longer pay an additional fee for electricity.

Heber RV Resort

The Heber RV Resort is a fully developed RV campground that offers 62 sites with full hookups. In addition to onsite laundry facilities and hot showers, guests can exercise pets at the dog park and watch while their children have fun in the play area.

Gentry Campground

The Gentry Campground, in the Sitgreaves National Forest, is approximately 13 miles west of Overgaard. The campground offers six campsites suitable for tents and very small (up to 16 feet) campers. Each site includes a picnic table and a grill. This one is somewhat primitive; there is no water at Gentry, so campers are advised to bring plenty of fresh water with them, and be prepared to take away everything they bring in, including trash. At 7725 feet in elevation, nights can be cool.

Black Canyon Rim Campground

Approximately 15 miles west of Overgaard and two miles south of US 260, the Forest Service operates the Black Canyon Rim Campground in the Sitgreaves National Forest. Fresh water is available at this small campground, made up of 20 sites, and so are vault toilets and garbage facilities. It's suitable for small rigs and tent campers, although there are no RV hookups.
