Campgrounds on Jekyll Island, Georgia

Jekyll Island, Georgia, is one of the "Golden Isles," along with Brunswick and St. Simons. The three are resort islands abounding in tourist activities and beaches. Most of Jekyll Island is a state park with one large campground. There are miles of beach and woodlands, ruins of plantation-era mansions and very remote areas for exploration. Just to the south is Cumberland Island National Seashore, an undeveloped island accessible only by boat, to which a limited number of people are allowed.

Jekyll Island Campground

Jekyll Island Campground is at the northern tip of the island, shaded by majestic oaks draped in Spanish moss. Driftwood Beach is nearby, along with a fishing pier and the Clam Creek Picnic area. There are miles of trails through the island for walking or bicycling, and lake, freshwater and saltwater fishing are available. The campground has a recreation room, bike rentals, bike tours, hiking trails and tennis, and golfers can find courses nearby.

Jekyll Island Campground has 206 sites; 162 with full hookups and 42 without hookups. There are 50 pull-through sites, extended-stay sites, and 44 sites for tents. The campground has cable TV, a limited grocery store, ice, bathrooms, showers and a laundry. Wi-Fi is also available. Jekyll Island campground is open year-round. Limited handicapped access is available and pets are welcome.

Blythe Island Regional Park

Blythe Island Regional Park is a 1,100 acre park near Interstate 40 on the mainland across from Brunswick Island. The park has picnic pavilions, a playground, a dock with access to the South Brunswick River, and a fresh water lake for fishing and swimming. Kayak and canoe rentals are available. There are hiking trails, playgrounds, a pool, volleyball and a public pavilion.

This campground has 97 RV sites with full hookups, group camping areas and tent sites. Bathhouses are heated and have hot showers. A guest laundry is available, Wi-Fi is free throughout the park, and at night a controlled access gate is closed.

Golden Isles RV Park

Golden Isles RV Park sits inland near Interstate 95, but it is still convenient to the water. It is seven miles from the Brunswick Island beaches and is close to historic downtown Brunswick. The park itself is set in a 14-acre wooded area.

Golden Isles has 160 campsites with full hookups; 102 of the sites are pull-throughs. There are some extended stay units and 15 tent sites. Pets are welcome. Cable TV and Wi-Fi are free. Ice, firewood and basic supplies are available at the campground store. Fran's Place Restaurant, which specializes in local fresh seafood, is located on-site.
