Jewett, Texas, is a small community in the east-central portion of the state. The region is to the west of metropolitan Houston and is near the Piney Woods section of the state. Road cyclists have hundreds of miles of country roads to tour and explore, and bird watchers enjoy the many species of native and migratory birds in the region. If you are traveling to Jewett in an RV, there are few options for campgrounds in the town but several in the region surrounding the community.

Home On the Range RV Campground

The Home On the Range RV Campground is located 20 minutes from Jewett. Park your RV in sites for back-in or pull-through rigs, complete with water, sewer, electric and cable TV hookups. Fish at the small lake at the campground or take a nature hike on one of the trails found within the campgrounds surrounding area.



Shower off and refresh in the shower houses and cook up dinner at the barbecue grills or fire rings found throughout the campground. Dogs are allowed but should be leashed while in the park.

Shady Oaks Cabins and RV Park

The Shady Oaks Cabins and RV Park is 20 minutes north of Jewett. The park is in the Piney Woods section of Texas, making for quick access to mountain biking, road cycling, hiking, canoeing and birdwatching.



The RV park has sites for small-, mid- and large-sized RVs. Hookups include free Wi-Fi. Water, sewer, cable TV and electric connections are standard at each site. Dogs are allowed. A coin operated laundry is available.



Large groups can cookout under an outdoor pavilion. Anglers have access to the fishing pond stocked with catfish and crappie on the campground.

Downey Mobile Home and RV Park

The Downey Mobile Home and RV Park caters to long-term visitors with seasonal and monthly rates. There are daily and weekly rates for sites at the park, accommodating the RV traveler.



The grounds are more community-oriented, with some residents spending months each year at the park. Dogs and pets are allowed. Showers, a coin operated laundry room, toilets and full hookups are available. A small lake is at the campground, along with a boat launch for visitors and guests.
