Campgrounds in Bessemer, Michigan

Bessemer, Michigan, is situated just below Lake Superior and the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The township is surrounded by many small lakes, each with their own respective campgrounds. The landscape is marked with hiking and cycling trails. Campers looking for outdoor recreational activities will not be disappointed when spending their vacation in Bessemer.

Bobcat Lake Campground

Bobcat Lake Campground is located 22 miles east of Bessemer on the north shore of 73-acre Bobcat Lake. Open year-round, this campground has 12 campsites that accommodate both RV and tent campers. There aren't any service hookups for RVs and campers.



Each site is equipped with picnic tables and campfire grills. Guests are permitted to stay up to 14 days at a time at the campgrounds. There are public restrooms, but there are no shower facilities and only one water spigot in the campground. Campers have access to a swimming area with a sandy beach and a boat ramp.

Pomeroy Lake Campground

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of activities to occupy their time at the Pomeroy Lake Campground. Nearby swimming and boating access, hiking and biking trails and fishing on 303-acre Pomeroy Lake are just a few of the recreational activities around the campground.



Open all year long, guests are only permitted to stay up to 14 days at a time in any of the 16 primitive tent and RV sites. All campsites are equipped with a fire pit and outdoor table and are mostly covered in grass. There is only one hand-pump water source for the campground and only outhouse-style restrooms.

Black River Harbor Campground

Just north of Bessemer, Black River Harbor Campground is located on the shores of Lake Superior and inside the borders of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. There are 40 primitive campsites that can accommodate both tent and RV campers with a waste station located on site.



Campers have access to modern restrooms without shower facilities and five water outlets throughout the campground. There is a boat ramp on the lake that has full-service amenities such as gas and groceries for sale. Large groups of campers can take advantage of combined group tent campsites.
