RV Campgrounds in the Choupique, Louisiana, Area

RV Campgrounds in the Choupique, Louisiana, Area
Choupique is a little place, but for RV campers looking for a place to park their rigs in southern Louisiana, the town is a good place to start. Situated between the Mississippi River and the Louisiana coast, Choupique sits in the middle of a web of state roads and U.S. highways, making the Choupique area a convenient base for exploring the prairies and bayous of Louisiana's Acadiana region.

Hideaway Ponds Recreational Resort

Situated about a dozen miles to the southwest of Choupique, Hideaway Ponds offers campsites with more than even "full hookups." In addition to electrical service for 20, 30 and 50 amps, each site also has two separate water hookups and cable TV connections, as well as a concrete patio, picnic table and barbecue pit.

The RV resort's amenities include an indoor pool with kiddie pool and jacuzzi, a bathhouse, a coin laundry, a camp store, a playground, miniature golf, courts for shuffleboard and volleyball and an air-conditioned clubhouse with billiards and ping-pong.

For outdoor activities, Hideaway Ponds lives up to its name with on-site ponds for catfish, crayfish and mixed-stock fishing.

D&D RV Park

Not to be confused with the role-playing game, D&D RV Park is a parking-lot-style RV campground located about 25 miles northeast of Choupique. The property is essentially an open lawn with little in the way of shade trees, and the campsites consist of gravel parking strips with full hookups (30- and 50-amp electricity) and cable TV connections.

Its main virtue is its location. D&D RV Park is centered between three major southern Louisiana lakes: des Allemands, Cataouatche and Salvador. The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve is also about 12 miles to the west. The park is literally surrounded by opportunities for fishing, boating and nature watching in the Louisiana wetlands.

Cypress Lake RV Resort

Cypress Lake is roughly 25 miles southwest of Choupique and bills itself as a "Cajun getaway." Cypress Lake is a parking-lot-style RV park but with plenty of amenities.

The campsites have 30- and 50-amp electricity, and the resort features a bathhouse, a coin laundry, an outdoor swimming pool and a playground.

Set near Lake Palourde, the resort has its own dock with canoe rentals and direct access to lake fishing with a fish-cleaning station for guests.
