Penn Sargus
Penn introduced the all metal Sargus in 2008 and it's built to handle abuse at an entry-level price. This inshore and light offshore reel has an aluminum alloy frame, rotor and side plate and an anodized, corrosion-resistant machined aluminum handle. The main shaft is stainless steel and the drag knob is sealed. High-speed gearing with a Techno-Balanced rotor allows you to retrieve quickly and smoothly. An infinite anti-reverse roller bearing and five stainless ball bearings make the drag equally smooth and casting a pleasure. The Sargus also has a non-twist line roller and a fail-proof bail spring to keep your line free of knots and tangles. With all of this going for it, Penn's Sargus is a great reel for anglers on a budget.
Penn Slammer
SaltwaterSpinningReel.net says the Slammer is Penn's best spinning reel and a favorite of guides and fishing charters. This all-metal reel has every advanced feature Penn has developed over the years including a Leveline Oscillation System, shielded drag washer, infinite anti-reverse and Techno-balanced rotor and worm drive. The Slammer also has a free spooling system that's designed for live bait and big fish. Its stainless steel main shaft with heavy duty gears and a beefy HT100 drag washer is built for a beating and has what it takes to slow down big fish without wearing you out.
Penn Spinfisher SS GR
According to USALures.com, the Spinfisher SS GR has over 75 current IGFA (International Game Fish Association) world record catches that include 12 all tackle marks. A graphite housing keeps the weight down but its stainless steel shaft through body design and anodized aluminum spool make it one tough customer. The spool is also skirted to increase line capacity and it uses a Leveline spool wrap system to improve casting performance and reduce tangles. Penn added a manual bail trip function to this reel and you can use it to eliminate premature bail tripping when you cast. An ergonomically contoured frame with a right and left hand drive and comfortable handle make the Spinfisher SS GR a pleasure to use.
