Campgrounds in Pepperwood, California

Pepperwood is a small community in the northwest of the state, about 30 miles from the Pacific Coast. Whether you travel the short drive to the coast or head east into Shasta-Trinity National Forest, there are plenty of options for hiking, fishing, swimming and mountain biking.

Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park

Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park is just north of Pepperwood. It has 30 camping sites for tent or small camper use in a fairly secluded area next to the Van Duzen River. On-site activities include hiking trails, horseshoes, swimming, fishing and canoeing. There is an exhibit area with a bookstore for those interested in learning a bit about the area, and picnic sites are available. Other interests close by include Humboldt Redwoods State Park to the south and Ruth Lake to the east. The campground is open from the end of May through the first week in September.

Redcrest Resort

Redcrest Resort is a short drive southeast of Pepperwood. It offers cabins and both RV and tent sites. RV sites come with complete hookups. Amenities include bath houses and restrooms. Activities including a play area with playground equipment, volleyball nets and horseshoes. There is also a hot tub, WiFi and a gift shop. Be sure to check out the tall redwood tree on the property, which has a tunnel through the middle that you can walk through. Nearby attractions include Humboldt Redwoods State Park a short drive to the south, as well as Fern Canyon and Gold Bluffs Beach, where parts of the "Jurassic Park" movies were filmed.

Humboldt Redwoods State Park

Humboldt Redwoods State Park has three campgrounds with more than 250 campsites. It's located just southeast of Pepperwood. The campground names are Albee Creek, Hidden Springs and Burlington. All sites include fire pits and picnic tables. RVs 33 feet or less in length are welcome. Restrooms and coin showers are available at each campground. There are hiking and horseback riding trails, fishing, geocaching, boating and swimming options.
