Perry is a city in Shiawassee County in Michigan. Located just about 22 miles northeast of Lansing and 32 miles southwest of Flint, Perry is near many recreational areas where visitors can enjoy a wide array of outdoor activities including hiking and biking. Perry is also close to Lake Ovid, where campers can boat, fish and swim.

Walnut Hills Family Campground and RV Resort

This 55-acre campground is located right by the water and offers 200 campsites. Sites have amenities like beachfront locations, water and electric hookups with 20-/30-/50-amp service, picnic tables, fire pits, Internet connections, playground and fishing ponds. Cabin rentals and tent sites are also available. Anglers can stop by the camp's bait and tackle shop to get any necessary equipment. Two fishing ponds and a fishing and swimming lake are right on-site. Additionally, the Shiawassee River runs alongside the camp, offering plenty of water views and opportunities for water recreation. You can rent a canoe, float tube, kayak or paddle boat to explore the river, or you can also rent a bike to explore the surrounding nature trails.

Sleepy Hollow State Park

This state park spans 2,600 acres with the 410-acre Lake Ovid in its center. The campground has 181 campsites that accommodate tents and RVs. Amenities include electric service, picnic areas, a boat launch and restrooms. Guests have easy access to the 16-mile Sleepy Hollow Hiking Trail, which can also be used for cross-country skiing and biking. Other activities include fishing, swimming, mountain biking and canoeing. Campers can also bird watch for more than 228 bird species including blue jays, eastern bluebirds, bald eagles and waterfowl.

Taylor's Beach Campground

This campground offers a wide array of amenities and activities. RV sites and tent sites are accommodated with full hook-ups, picnic tables, free wireless Internet service and rentals for bikes, kayaks, paddle boats and fishing boats. Other facilities you can enjoy in the park include a basketball court, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits and a shuffleboard court. Anglers can fish in the spring-fed lake or hike the nature trails surrounding the camp. A sandy beach is also available where you can enjoy swimming and sunbathing.
