Delaware was the first official state to ratify the U.S. Constitution, doing so on Dec. 7, 1787. Delaware, in addition to the long-standing cultural history in the country, has a long tradition of nautical and natural history. Delaware enjoys an Atlantic coast, wetlands and shares parts of the Delaware River with Pennsylvania. Kayaking opportunities abound in Delaware. If you are visiting the state and want to get out for a kayak tour, there are several options for tours.

Coastal Kayak

Coastal Kayak operates out of Ocean City, Maryland, but offers kayak tours in Delaware. The Salt Marsh Tour goes into the waters around Rehoboth Bay, Delaware. Paddle into the salt marshes looking for herons, egrets, oyster catchers, osprey, horseshoe crabs and skimmers.

You receive a short instructional before loading into your kayaks and paddling into the marshes with your guide. The tour lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hours and is suitable for all paddling abilities. Wear shoes that can withstand getting wet and bring a sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Drinks and a snack are provided.
