Chester State Park
Situated between Columbia and Charlotte, Chester State Park is an ideal place to visit for camping and fishing. The park features a 160-acre lake surrounded by a two-mile nature trail that treads through pine woods. Stay at the park's campground that accommodates both RV and tent camping. Site amenities include water and electrical hookups, picnic areas, and shower and restroom facilities. Anglers can fish at the lake for catfish, bass, bream and crappie. Also enjoy boating or troll fishing, and access the lake's hand-launched boat access area. Non-motorized fishing boat rentals are available on site.

Baker Creek State Park
Camp and fish right on the shores of Lake Thurmond, where you can also enjoy swimming, boating and hiking. Baker Creek State Park offers two campgrounds with 50 campsites located right along the lake's shores. The camp accommodates both RV and tent campers, and has amenities such as restrooms, hot showers, picnic areas, and electric and water hookups. Fish the lake for species such as bass, catfish, crappie, bream and striped bass. Boating is also available, and two boat ramps are available for access on-site. Another popular activity is to ride the park's 10-mile mountain biking trail that runs through pine-forested areas. Also, observe wildlife such as waterfowl, deer and wild turkeys during your stay.

Calhoun Falls State Recreation Area
Calhoun Falls State Recreation Area provides a camping and fishing experience surrounded by natural sights such as pine-covered points around Lake Russell and access to the Savannah River. The park has other activities such as swimming, hiking, boating and birdwatching. Lake Russell is home to fish species such as bass, crappie, bream and catfish. Additionally, anglers can fish from the fishing pier that extends out into Lake Russell. The park offers three campgrounds situated along the shores of Lake Russell, with amenities including water and electrical hookups. Both RV and tent sites are available. Amenities include picnic areas, a laundry site, and shower and restroom facilities.
