Aside from being known as Curling Capital USA, Bemidji is also noted for its proximity to Itasca State Park, where the mighty Mississippi River starts off as a creek small enough to stride across, and home to 400 lakes within a 25-mile radius. RV campers can choose from several well-serviced sites that specialize in family friendly activities, plenty of action for anglers and nearby hiking and biking recreation.

Bemidji KOA

This seasonal KOA opens in May and closes in mid-October. The facility features pull-thru sites for rigs up to 102-feet in length and have 50-amp electrical service along with free cable television, telephone and wireless Internet access. Sites also provide a picnic table, grass area and shade trees. Amenities at the campground include a kitchen for guest use, a swimming pool, snack bar and a complimentary continental breakfast Monday through Saturdays. Scheduled activities such hot dog cookouts, evening movies and ice cream socials are arranged. Bike rentals, mini-golf and rides atop an antique fire engine are also available.

Hamilton's Fox Lake Campground

Hamilton's family-owned and operated facility provides lakeside camping among its 70 RV sites that include pull-through sites, 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical along with cable television, phone access, water and sewer. The park is located on 154 acres within the Buena Vista State Forest and includes boat rentals, complimentary use of canoes and paddleboats, winter storage and a dump station. A general store includes groceries, sundries, fishing bait and tackle, limited RV supplies and propane gas. Along with boating and swimming, anglers can fish for northern pike, bass and walleyes within Fox Lake.

Oak Haven Resort & Campground

This seasonal park operates from late May through Labor Day and offers RV campers access to a lodge with dining services, gift shop an indoor and outdoor pool, game course, canoes and paddleboats, laundry and shower facilities, fishing docks and cleaning stations. Full hook-ups and primitive sites are available as well as a boat launch and docking for an extra fee. Pets are not allowed within the camp and due to pest control issues, firewood can not be brought into the campground from an outside source. Scheduled activities include hot dog and "s'mores" cookouts and a fishing trip for the kids aboard facility pontoons. The campground is located in proximity to Chippewa National Forest with 1.6 million acres available for hiking, biking, wildflower viewing and watersports.
