Fish Lodges Near Chicoutimi, Canada

Chicoutimi, Quebec, is located between Montreal and Quebec City, along the mighty St. Lawrence River. The region is known for canoeing, kayaking, sailing and fishing. Chicoutimi, Trois Rivieres and the Messines region have numerous little lakes and tributaries prime for fishing. You don't have to rough it when there, as several lodges and resorts cater to the fishing and outdoor set. If traveling to Canada from the United States, be sure to bring your passport or passport card as new laws require their use for crossing the border.

Moosehead Lodge

Moosehead Lodge, on the shores of Big Cedar Lake, is open year round. The lodge offers rooms with private showers and toilets and king or queen size beds. Private cabins are also available; these come equipped with kitchens, toilets and showers. There is a fishing guide service through the lodge, a fish-cleaning house and use of boats to fish the Big Cedar Lake. Quebec fishing licenses are available through the lodge. Fish for lake trout, pike and small- or large-mouthed bass from the lodge.

Cooper Camp

Cooper Camp arranges custom fishing trips to its backcountry fishing camps out of Montreal, Chicoutimi or Sagaunay. Stay in wall tents in the Ashuapmushan reserve, and take advantage of the numerous lakes of the region for pike, bass and walleye. Ventadour Lake is part of the waterways of the region and covers 2,400 square miles. Enjoy meals served family style in the main hall. There are showers, toilets, fireplaces and group fires at Cooper Camp.

Auberge la Villa au Pignon Vert

The Auberge la Villa au Pignon Vert works with OrganisAction, a Quebec-based guiding and outdoor service, to offer stay and fish packages into eastern Quebec. The Auberge (lodge/hotel) offers rooms with king or queen beds, views of the river, toiletries, cable TV, Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfasts. Fishing guides and packages are arranged through the guiding service and head to any number of lakes or onto the St. Lawrence River. Fishing licenses are available through the guide service.
