Campgrounds on Smith Mountain Lake

Smith Mountain Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in Virginia. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of water recreation including fishing and swimming. You can also enjoy other activities like hiking, para-sailing, water-skiing and jet skiing while camping near the lake. Smith Mountain Lake spans 40 miles with 500 miles of shoreline and is also surrounded by the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park

Smith Mountain Lake State Park offers a variety of camping accommodations for tents, RVs and cabin campers. The park's campground offers 50 campsites with grills, picnic tables, fire rings and a bathhouse equipped with hot showers and a wash sink. A boat launch and a dump station are available. The park includes back-in and pull-through (50 ft.) sites with water and 30- or 50-amp electrical service Hike and explore the park's 13 hiking trails featuring picturesque vistas, secluded coves and hardwood and pine forests.

Eagles Roost Campground

Eagle's Roost Campground is situated right on the east side of the Smith Mountain Lake. The camp offers seasonal and short-term tent and RV campsites. Tent sites have electricity hookups with fire rings and picnic tables and shaded RV sites are include water and 30-amp service. The campground offers full hookups for seasonal sites. Other amenities include two bathhouses, restrooms and dump stations. Aside from camping, you can also enjoy the camp's sandy beach, boat ramps and boat slips. Canoe rental services are also available. Wildlife viewing of birds and deer are common at the campground.

Blue Ridge Campground & Marina

This campground offers seasonal sites for travel trailers, pop-up campers and motor homes. Blue Ridge Campground & Marina's amenities include bathhouses with hot showers, laundry facilities, picnic areas, playground and a pavilion. You can enjoy many activities right on camp including boating, swimming, fishing and hiking. You can find fish species such as striped, smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, walleye, catfish and muskellunge.
