RV Camping on the Yellowstone River

The 692-mile Yellowstone River runs along the northern border of Yellowstone National Park then stretches across the plains of southern Montana before feeding into the Missouri River in North Dakota. The camping season in this area runs from mid-April through late October, with the busiest season being June through Labor Day. The RV parks along the Yellowstone River are plentiful and competitive, offering top-notch amenities and access to river activities.

Yellowstone River Campgrounds

Located in Billings, the Yellowstone River Campground has 100 campsites, 83 of which are pull-through sites with full hook-ups that include data port hookups and cable TV. There is 20-, 30-, or 50-amp electric available at the RV campsites. Facilities include a laundry facility, swimming pool, pavilion and a general store. A short nature trail on the east side of the park provides access to the Yellowstone River.

Spring Creek Campground and Trout Ranch

The Spring Creek Campground is located south of Big Timber, 2-miles off Interstate 90. The campground is situated on the Boulder River, just upstream of where it feeds into the Yellowstone River. The park is open from April 15 through Oct. 15 and has 65 RV sites, 13 with full-hookups including Wi-Fi throughout the park. 20 river sites do not include sewer. Facilities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, country store and three spring-fed trout ponds stocked with rainbow trout.

Yellowstone's Edge RV Park

18 miles south of Livingston and 35-miles north of Yellowstone National Park is the Yellowstone's Edge RV Park. RV sites are as close as 3,000 feet from the river all will full hookups. Facilities include Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the park, laundry facilities, restrooms, showers, lodge, game room and camp store.

Rocky Mountain Campground

This campground is four blocks from the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park and one block from the Yellowstone River, sitting on a bluff that overlooks the National Park. The campground has 87 RV sites, 28 of which are pull-through. 60 sites have full-hookups available including cable TV. The facilities include Wi-Fi throughout the campground, showers, restrooms, laundromat and small store.
