Shakespeare fishing gear and reels have been in production since 1896, when William Shakespeare Jr. developed and patented his level-wind reel. Anglers use a variety of Shakespeare products, including saltwater trolling reels. Trolling reels must be able to handle the pressure of landing big-game fish and bringing them to the surface.

Tidewater TW 30L

The Tidewater TW 30L uses a 3.8 gear ratio, level-wind reel, two stainless steel bearings, permanent anti-reverse, aluminum casing and handle, and has a max weight line capacity of 330 pounds. The Tidewater TW comes in two sizes, a 50 size in both level-wind and nonlevel wind, and a 30 size nonlevel wind model.

Arsenal HD Series

Shakespeare's Arsenal HD line of saltwater trolling reels are made with a 4.2.1 gear ratio, 2-plus-1 stainless steel bearing system, machined and hardened brass pistons, stainless steel handle and reel, an anodized aluminum spool, and it has an on/off bait clicker. There are three weights of reels in the Arsenal line.

Arsenal Graphite Series

Shakespeare reduced weight in its Arsenal line by introducing a line of reels made from graphite. The graphite series has a 4.2.1 gear ratio, one-piece graphite covers and housing, level-wind reels, aluminum handles and spools, and a stainless steel bearing system. The graphite series comes in two weights.
