Camping Near Coon Lake, Minnesota
Coon Lake is an all-sports lake located 25 miles north of Minnesota's capital, Minneapolis. The lake has quality fishing for crappie, largemouth bass and northern pike. Although there are no campgrounds directly on the lake, there are several in the surrounding area. There also is a public boat launch on the north shore of the lake and adjacent to Thielan Park, which has a wooded hiking trail.

Ham Lake Campground

Ham Lake Campground is located less than three miles south of Coon Lake on Ham Lake. It offers full and partial hookup sites, as well as rustic tent sites. Waterfront sites are available on Ham Lake and two ponds; all sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Facility amenities include a camp store, two modern bathhouses with private showers, a coin-operated guest laundry, a sandy beach with swimming area, planned activities and a playground, along with bike rentals and a petting zoo. Fishing is available in the lake and both ponds, and there is a fishing pier located on Ham Lake. Ham Lake Campground has several hiking trails located north of the campground along Ham Lake and into a wooded area.

Country Camping Campground

Country Camping Campground is located 13 miles northwest of Coon Lake on the Rum River. It features full and partial hookup campsites that include a fire ring and picnic table. Facility amenities include a convenience store, recreation room and game room, along with coin-operated laundry machines, modern restrooms and private showers. Recreational amenities include an outdoor heated pool, playground and weekend planned activities. The campground has an on-site livery that rents tubes, canoes and kayaks for use on the Rum River and includes a pickup service. There are several nature and hiking trails accessible from the campground that run along the Rum River and wooded area surrounding the campground.

Kozy Oaks Kamp

Kozy Oaks Kamp is located 13 miles northeast of Coon Lake on Horseleg Lake. It offers wooded rustic and partial hookup campsites that include a fire ring and picnic table. Facility amenities include a camp store, playground and swimming pool, along with modern restrooms and private showers. Recreational amenities include complimentary canoes for the lake, miniature golf and a baseball diamond. Cedar Creek Natural History Area, which is five miles to the west, has several miles of forested hiking trails.
