San Diego is a popular vacation destination due to its year-around warm climate and long sandy beaches. RV campers will find several parks and resorts in the city and suburbs of San Diego that offer convenient access to the beaches and other attractions, which include Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and Sunset Cliffs Hiking Trail.

San Diego RV Resort

San Diego RV Resort is located 10 miles east of downtown San Diego. It offers 174 full hookup RV sites that include a paved pad and patio, cable TV and telephone hookup along with wireless Internet access. Sites are generously spaced providing privacy and have landscaping. Facility amenities include a conference hall, meeting room and propane filling station as well as modern restrooms and private showers. Recreational amenities include a fitness center, heated pool and game room. Mission Trails Regional Park is located less then a mile to the north and provides access to 5,800 acres of wilderness that contains several hiking trails.

Chula Vista RV Park

Chula Vista RV Park is located nine miles south of downtown San Diego on San Diego Bay. It offers 237 full hookup RV sites that include a concrete pad, picnic table and water view from select sites. Facility amenities include a general store, coin-operated laundry area and picnic area along with modern restrooms and private showers. There is a full-service marina on-site that include 552 boat slips and a boat launch. Recreational amenities include a pool, hot tub and fitness room. There are multi-use trails accessible from the park that runs along San Diego Bay and bike rentals are available from the general store.

Campland on the Beach

Campland on the Beach is located on Mission Bay less then three miles north of downtown San Diego. It offers a variety of sites including full hookup, primitive and super sites that feature a hot tub, private patio and grill. All sites include a concrete pad and picnic table. There is a full-service marina on-site that include boat slips and boat launch. Campland has a large sandy beach area for guests to swim and sunbathe. Facility amenities include a pool, game room and coin-operated guest laundry along with a camp store and cafe that serves lunch and dinner. Tecolote Canyon Natural Park is less then a mile to the east and offers several hiking trails through a forested landscape.
