Welshpool is a market town on the border between England and Wales that is in a scenic area with valleys, forests and lakes. Although a cabin made of stone is a more common vacation lodging in the United Kingdom, log cabins can be found on the outskirts of Welshpool. The amenities vary in these cabins, but they are all in tranquil and secluded areas.

Penycoed Stables

Next to the Llynclys Hill nature reserve and nestled in a wooded area, Penycoed Stables has five log cabins that have barbecues and gardens. The cabins, which range in size and number of bedrooms, feature central heating, microwaves and TV. The cabins can accommodate up to six people. A restaurant, tea room and picnic area are on the property, which has numerous walking trails and is within a mile of a shop and a pub. A big attraction is its equestrian opportunities. Penycoed Stables stages a pony days for children throughout the year and has a pony club center that offers riding lessons. Offering great views of the scenic Shropshire/Welsh Border, it also has miles of horseback riding trails.

Heathwaen Log Cabins & Fishery

The Heathwaen Log Cabins & Fishery is on the outskirts of the village of Knockin and is three miles from the major A5 highway. Popular for people seeking short vacations or just getting away for the weekend, the 10-acre property has picturesque log cabins make from whole trees. The cabins have many of the modern amenities such as refrigerators, TV and microwaves along with a communal Jacuzzi and sauna. Each cabin has a veranda. In addition to fly fishing at the two lakes that front the cabins, the property has a barbecue area and a small gazebo. Other on-site recreational activities include pigeon shooting and archery. A meeting room for groups is also provided.

Belan Bach Lodges

Belan Bach Lodges has five log cabins in a forested area that provides easy access to Welshpool, Powis Castle, King Arthur's Labyrinth and a center for alternative technology development. A shop and pub are both within two miles of the property. A big attraction of the cabins is their large and elevated decks that overlook a grassy front lawn and offer a great view of the Banwy Valley. Pets are allowed in the cabins. Amenities on the property include a putting green and a hot tub. Numerous hiking trails and opportunities to observe wildlife are all close by. Boating and fishing can be found at Lake Vyrnwy, which is six miles from Belan Bach Lodges.
