Rooms With A View
There are 150 rooms at the Far View Lodge, which was named one of the world's best high-elevation hotels by Travel and Leisure magazine. All the rooms have a balcony and can see as far as 100 miles away on clear days, perfect for wildlife watching and stargazing. There are two levels of rooms: Standard and Kiva, none of which have a television or cell phone service. As of 2010, rates range from $78 to $151, depending on season and room type.
Standard Room
Standard rooms are the least expensive. They have either one queen or two double beds, plus private bath and balcony. There is no air conditioning, TV or cell service but it does include a clock radio, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board and room telephone. Standard ADA-compliant rooms are available for people with disabilities. Pets are allowed only in Standard rooms, but require a $50 deposit that is refundable if there is no excessive cleaning or damage and a nightly fee of $10 for each pet.
Kiva Room
The Kiva rooms are an upgraded version of the Standard. These rooms are air conditioned, featuring one pillow-top king or two pillow-top double beds and custom handcrafted furniture. They have private bathrooms and balconies. Additionally, the Kiva rooms have a clock radio/CD player, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board and a room telephone. TVs or cell service are not available.
