Camping in Nimrod, Minnesota

Nimrod is located in Wadena County, Minnesota. The area offers numerous campgrounds providing many opportunities to explore nature. The Huntersville State Forest is a major attraction comprising of 52 square miles of thick pine forests. Visitors can pitch a tent and enjoy various hiking trails or take advantage of the many boat ramp access available in Nimrod.

Huntersville Forest Landing Campground

Huntersville Forest Landing Campground offers primitive campsites with basic amenities, such as picnic tables, fire rings and vault toilets. There are 24 tent sites and drinking water is also available. All sites are first-come first-serve according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This campground is situated right by the Crow River where water activities, such as swimming, fishing and boating are available. Campers can also enjoy numerous hiking trails nearby.

Stompin' Grounds Lodge and Camping

Stompin' Grounds is located right by the Paul Bunyan Forest. The camp offers RV sites and tent camping with amenities, such as electric and water hookups, fire rings, picnic tables, shower and bath facilities. The campground also has a lodge and a bar. The camp is popular among all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riders as riding trails are available nearby for ATVs, off-road vehicles (ORV) and snowmobiles. Visitors can also enjoy other recreational activities in the Paul Bunyan Forest including fishing, cross-country skiing, hiking and wildlife viewing.

Shell City Landing Campground

Shell City Landing Campground offers 19 primitive camping sites. The amenities include fire rings, picnic areas and drinking water. The camp is situated right on Shell River and Crow Wing River Canoe Route. Visitors can enjoy activities, such as swimming, boating and fishing. Hiking trails on camp feature natural sights like red and jack pine forests, aspen, spruce and northern hardwoods.
