Ohio Camping Vacations

The Buckeye State of Ohio offers much in the way of outdoor activities and sports. The northern region of the sate has sand dunes along Lake Erie's shoreline where you can fish, swim, hike, kayak and snorkel. Down in the southern region of the state are the Hocking Hills. Explore caves, hike or mountain bike through pine and hardwood forests or grab some binoculars and bird-watch. Camping vacation opportunities abound within the state.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

Enjoy a family camping vacation at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park. Kids will enjoy nightly movies and cartoons shown at the outside amphitheater, arcade room and games, swimming pool or fishing in the pond. Hike on the trails or bicycle the campground road and pathways. RV and tent camping is accommodated with showers, bathrooms, picnic tables, barbecue grills and fire-pits. Pets are welcome.

Headlands Beach State Park

The northeast portion of Ohio is home to numerous state parks, including Headlands Beach State Park. Get off the beaten path by exploring the mile-long beach and camp at the neighboring Punderson State Park as well. Kayaking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, bird-watching, biking and hiking are all possible between the two parks, within 30 minutes of each other. Campsites at Punderson have hookups (30- amp electric, water and sewer). Tent sites are level and have picnic tables and grills with a fire ring. Pets are allowed at Punderson but are not allowed on the beach at Headlands.

Happy Hills Family Campground

Happy Hills Family Campground is in the southern portion of the state, near Hocking Hills. Opportunities to hike, mountain bike, swim, explore caves, kayak, canoe and fish abound in the regions pine and hardwood forests. Happy Hills accommodates tent and RV campers. Tent sites have picnic tables, grills and fire rings. RV sites have 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV connections. All campers have access to the showers, bathrooms and guest house with laundry. Pets are allowed.
