Ayutthaya was once the capital of Siam, and is now one of Thailand's leading historical sites. About an hour's ride from Bangkok, Ayutthaya has temples and images on an "island" formed by a river bend, and the park therein is a World Heritage Site that can be explored on foot or by bicycle. Many hotels in Ayutthaya rent bicycles, as there are routes along the river and within the park. Hotels in Ayutthaya are mostly around Naresuan Road, and a number of them are three-star fairly-good quality.
