Affordable Hotels in Old San Juan

San Juan, Puerto Rico's largest city, welcomes travelers from all over the globe to explore its rich culture and history which is most distinctive in the historic area of Old San Juan. It remains a residential area with many historic landmarks and limited accommodations. As of October 2009, many hotels there charge at least $200 per night; however, a few more affordable ones can be found for budget travelers.

Howard Johnson Inn Plaza de Armas

The Howard Johnson Inn Plaza de Armas is easily the most affordable hotel in Old San Juan. Located in the center of the action, Howard Johnson's does not have a pool and offers very few amenities. The hotel offers rooms and suites which range between $85 and $140 per night.

Hotel Milano

Voted Old San Juan's best bargain by the New York Times in 2007, the Hotel Milano offers budget travelers a central location near the shops and eateries of Old San Juan. The hotel, which is a 30-room renovated house, serves breakfast at its rooftop terrace. Room range from $85 to $185 per night depending on the season.
