Top Summer Cruise Deals Out of New York
The port of New York City was once the major passenger steamship port along the east coast of the United States. Celebrities, businessmen and thousands of immigrants passed through these buildings. Today, cruises are for fun more than transportation and South Florida has usurped New York's role as a cruise mecca. However, each summer a number of ships use New York's cruise terminal as a starting place for such adventurous locations as Bermuda, the Caribbean, New England and Canada as well as transatlantic voyages.

Carnival Miracle

The 2124-passenger Carnival Miracle, part of the Carnival Cruise fleet, sails each June, July and August from New York City to the Eastern Caribbean, calling at the Turks and Caicos islands and two ports in the Bahamas. The ship offers a variety of on-board activities, including two swimming pools, a 9-hole golf course and a huge fitness facility. As of 2009, recent rates for the five-night cruise started at $599 per person, based on two persons sharing a stateroom.

The elegant liner features a full spa, a basketball court, virtual golf, a state-of-the-art gym and weight room and even a planetarium.
