Although Dallas is a huge city known for being the most metropolitan in the state, there also are a wide variety of places to go camping. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you'll be excited to learn that Dallas boasts many different camping areas. No matter what kind of outdoor adventure you're looking to encounter, you'll find it in one of northern Texas' beautiful campgrounds.

Bonham State Park

Bonham State Park is located about 100 miles north of metropolitan Dallas, but it seems a million miles away from fast-paced city living. This beautiful state park features outdoor adventures for the whole family over 261 acres with campsites, a lake with a nice swimming area as well as the stunning rolling hills that make north Texas famous. Look for beavers, raccoons and songbirds.

Cedar Hill State Park

Cedar Hill State Park is a large state park situated just south of Dallas. The park is 1,826 acres in size and offers tons of great campsites. In fact, you can choose from more than 350 places to set up camp. Go mountain biking, bird watching, fishing, swimming or grilling on the campground. You can even take the sailboat out on one of the park's boat ramps.

Eisenhower State Park

Eisenhower State Park is located about an hour's drive north of Dallas. The park totals about 423 acres in size and is a great respite from the city. Enjoy Lake Texoma, an enormous lake situated on the stateline between Oklahoma and Texas. The park is made up of heavy woodlands with a number of available campsites throughout. Go hiking, biking, sailing or just observing the wildlife.
