Full of picturesque landscapes and a vast amount of history, Ohio is a state that has a lot to offer visitors. People visiting Ohio should be prepared for hot summers and cold winters. In the spring and fall, temperatures are known to be chilly in the morning and evening, but hot throughout the afternoon. There are an abundance of activities to enjoy throughout the state--from amusement parks to the Amish country--adrenaline junkies and history buffs are bound to have a good time in the Buckeye state.

Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve

Located in Yellow Springs, Ohio, approximately 12 miles east of Dayton, the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve provides hikers with artistic views of wooded areas, scenic waterfalls and the spectacular limestone and dolomite gorge. It is an excellent place to view astonishing wild flowers in the spring and the beautiful colors of Ohio in the fall. History buffs also delight in the historic Clifton Mill next to Clifton Gorge. Located outside the mill is one of the few covered bridges in existence for guests to walk across enjoying scenic views of the mill, the waterfalls and the gorge below.

Amish Heartland Tours

Located in Berlin, Ohio, Amish Heartland Tours offers visitors a guided tour through Holmes County's Amish Country. Guests of the tour have the opportunity to walk through two formerly lived-in Amish homes, take a buggy ride and tour a one-room schoolhouse. Guests also have the option to buy and enjoy a meal in an Amish home. Other tours include a wine and cheese tour and a two-hour narrated tour of the countryside. Tours depart from various locations in Amish country, so check the location of the tour you buy.

Ohio Caverns

The Ohio Caverns are concealed beneath the wooded countryside and farmland in Champaign County. The caves, formed thousands of years ago, are the result of an underground river that cut through ancient limestone to create large caverns, stalactites and stalagmites. Guests can hike through the caverns and photograph the various white formations. Guided tours run throughout the year, and large groups are welcome to a historic tour of the caverns.

Kings Island

Thrill seekers and small children alike will enjoy the excitement at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio. Various roller coasters will satisfy those in need of an adventure. From the vast loops of the Vortex to the small hills of Little Bill's Giggle Coaster, there is an exciting adventure awaiting all ages. In addition to wild thrill rides, guests can enjoy an old-fashioned swing ride, bumper cars and an old-fashioned log ride. A trip to Kings Island wouldn't be complete without visiting the top of the Eiffel Tower. Located in the center of the main strip, the tower is a one-third replica of the original Eiffel Tower and offers guests panoramic views of the entire park.
