HMS Belfast
The HMS Belfast is an old warship from the World War II era. This historic naval vessel is docked in the center of London on the River Thames. It used to be a popular tourist attraction, originally made open to the public back in 1971. The ship is no longer in prime condition, and the crowds have thinned out significantly. Walk along the south bank of the river and take a tour of the quarterdeck, bridge and boiler rooms on this old boat. This World War II relic may not be very popular anymore, but it is still an interesting place to visit in central London.

Cleopatra's Needle
Cleopatra's Needle is an ancient Egyptian obelisk. It was brought from Egypt to London in 1878. It is located on the Victoria Embankment, just one block from the Thames Embankment underground station. This stone monument built for the Pharaoh Tuthmose III was a novelty in London over 100 years ago, but the tourist crowds have diminished over time. These days it's easy to get an up close view of the mostly overlooked obelisk.
Highgate Cemetery
Another forgotten point of interest in London is the Highgate Cemetery. Several famous authors and scientists are buried here, but the most notable tomb is that of Karl Marx. This famed leader of the Communist movement was ironically buried in a capitalist country, far from Russia and Socialism. Most tourists don't even realize Marx's tomb is in London's Highgate Cemetery. There are generally few visitors, and a casual hike around the mysterious gardens and graves is a worthwhile excursion. Explore the labyrinths of plants and flowers as well as the intricate stone monuments.
