Air India and Indian Airlines
Operating since 1932, Air India--known as Tata Airlines until 1946--serves 11 domestic and 18 international destinations. Its primary airport hubs are at Chhatrapati Shivaji in Mumbai and Indira Gandhi in Delhi. Operating since 1953, Air India's sister carrier Indian Airlines offers domestic flights as well as flights to neighboring Asian countries.
Both government owned and operated, Air India and Indian are the two flag carriers of India. In 2007, the National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL) was established to facilitate the merger of these two formerly independent airlines.

Jet Airways, JetLite, and Jet Airways Konnect
Operating since 1993, Jet Airways offers flights to 65 domestic and international destinations. Its primary hub is at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, and it has secondary hubs in several Indian cities: Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. It has another one in Brussels, Belgium.
JetLite is a low-cost domestic carrier formerly known as Air Sahara. It is now a subsidiary of Jet Airways, which bought out the company in 2007.
Jet Airways Konnect is an expansion of JetLite that began operations in May 2009. The sole difference between the two low-cost offshoots of Jet Airways is that Konnect will charge passengers for in-flight means, whereas JetLite includes meals in its ticket price.

Kingfisher Airlines owns Kingfisher Red, a low-cost domestic carrier formerly known as Air Deccan and subsequently Simplifly Deccan. Kingfisher Red began operations when Air Deccan merged with Kingfisher Airlines in 2007.
