List of Airlines in Mexico

List of Airlines in Mexico
Offering a wealth of opportunities for outdoor adventure, Mexico is an appealing destination for adventurers of all ages. At one time the two major airlines, Aeromexico and Mexicana, which dominated the air travel market, were publicly owned. Since privatization of these companies went into effect in 1989, multiple Mexican discount airlines have emerged into the market. Creating cost-effective alternatives for travel, these noted airlines should be considered as options for your next trip.

Aeromexico

Based out of Mexico City, AeroMexico is the largest airline in Mexico. Offering domestic and international flights, the airline features flights to destinations located throughout North, Central and South America.

Aviacsa

Aviacsa offers flights from Las Vegas, Nevada and throughout Mexico. Flight search engines, such as Kayak, often sell discount airfare for Aviacsa flights. As of August 2009, the Transportation and Communications Department of Mexico have grounded Aviacsa for uncollected fees.

Mexicana Airlines

Operating flights to more than 50 destinations within Mexico as well as offering international services to North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America, Mexicana Airlines is based in Mexico City. Officially known as Mexicana de Aviación, this award-winning airline is the second largest carrier in Mexico and have been operating over 85 years.

VivaAerobus

Based in Monterrey, this airline operates flights between Monterrey and 21 destinations throughout mainland Mexico and Baja California. VivaAerobus includes U.S. flights arriving and departing out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Interjet

Based in Toluca, Mexico, Interjet offers discount flights to 15 Mexican destinations, including Guatemala.

Volaris

Based out of Toluca's International Airport just west of Mexico City, Volaris Airlines offers flights to 23 Mexican destinations as well as flights out of Los Angeles and Oakland, California.
