Lakes That Allow Jet Skis near Omaha, Nebraska

Omaha is located in the eastern region of Nebraska along the Missouri River. The city is filled with several state recreational lakes. Among the city's numerous recreational activities are swimming, fishing, kayaking and other water sports. While most of the city's lakes do not allow jet skis, boating enthusiasts have a few options to choose from within a 40-mile radius.

Levi Carter Park

Levi Carter Park is the largest lake in Omaha that allows jet skis. This 500-acre public lake offers several amenities including a marina, several playgrounds, two football fields, two basketball courts, picnic areas, hiking trails and a pavilion. At the lake, visitors can enjoy a day of boating, fishing and water skiing.

N.P. Dodge Memorial Park

Dodge Park is a 450-acre park located in North Omaha along the Missouri River. The park is a popular destination for residents in the area. It features hiking trails, eight soccer fields, four lit baseball fields, two tennis courts, four horseshoe pits, picnic areas and a campground. The docks at Dodge Park feed into the Missouri River, where visitors are welcome to go fishing, water skiing and jet skiing. As a municipal facility, there are no fees for jet skiing at Dodge Park.

Lake Manawa

Lake Manawa is approximately 40 miles away from Omaha in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This 772-acre lake allows several water-based activities including swimming, fishing and boating. Its land-based facilities include over 70 campgrounds, miles of nature trails, acres of open sporting areas and a few picnic shelters equipped with a fireplace and a kitchen. All personal watercrafts must be registered to gain access to Lake Manawa. Jet skis registered out of state are allowed to use Lake Manawa for up to 60 days a year without having to pay Iowa registration fees. As of April, 2010, a three-year personal watercraft registration fee is $46.
