Phoenix is a large city located in the central region of Arizona. The city is home to a large number of recreational attractions including South Mountain Park, Camelback Mountain and the Desert Botanical Garden, which displays over 100 desert plant species from all over the world. In addition to these attractions, Phoenix is also home to several golf courses.

Raven Golf Club at South Mountain

Raven Golf Club at South Mountain is located in Phoenix just five miles away from Sky Harbor Airport near the base of South Mountain. The course features 18 holes over 7,078 yards with a par of 72. The course has been rated with a 73.3 with a slope rating of 130. Over the years, the facility has received a few awards and recognitions including a 4.5 rating from Golf Digest. Raven Golf Course also has the privilege of hosting the Arizona Stroke Play Championship. An on-site restaurant is also located on the grounds overlooking the 18th hole. The Raven Grill offers a casual dining environment and a diverse menu for patrons looking to rest for a while before or after hitting the green.

Papago Golf Course

Restored and reopened in 2008, Papago Golf Course is one of the newest golf facilities in the Phoenix area. Papago Golf Course is located near the central part of the city about 15 minutes from away from downtown Phoenix. The course features 18 holes over 7,333 yards. The newly-designed facility has been described as a "must play" for old patrons and new guests. Pagago also offers a driving range that is open six days a week for golf enthusiasts who are interested in practicing their swing. The driving range is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.

Wildfire Golf Club

Wildfire Golf Club is located in northeast Phoenix near the Sonoran Desert. This facility houses two separate golf courses. The Palmer Course features 18 holes over 7,710 yards with a par of 72 and a slope rating of 125. The Faldo Course features 18 holes over 6,846 yards with a par of 71 and a slope rating of 135. At 2,500 square feet, the Wildfire Golf Shop was ranked top 100 Best Golf Shops in 2008 by Golfworld. Visitors may also enjoy catching breakfast, lunch or dinner at the on-site Meritage Steakhouse.

Vistal Golf Club

Vistal Golf Club is conveniently situated between downtown Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun. The course reopened in 2001 and has since received rave reviews. Vistal Golf Club features 18 holes over 7,013 yards with a par of 71. The course has a rating of 72.6 and a slope rating of 126. The atmosphere of the golf course is pretty casual and classical rock music is played throughout the facility for patrons to enjoy. The on-site restaurant, Blue Pig Patio, serves burritos, hamburgers, chili and beer. The course was ranked number five on Van's Top 10 New Public Courses in Sports Illustrated.
