Santee Cooper County in South Carolina is a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to great fishing, the area is full of wildlife, hiking and biking trails. Lake Marion is also home to some beautiful flooded cypress forests. If you are looking to escape the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of Santee, there are a number of cabin rentals that will make your stay more enjoyable.

Cabins at Santee State Park

The cabins at Santee State Park are located on the shores of Lake Marion. Of the 30 cabins, 10 are located on a pier directly over the lake, while the others are on the lake shore. Each two-bedroom cabin, which are furnished with kitchens, sleeping linens and TVs, sleeps up to six people. In addition to air conditioning and heat, Internet is available for guests in the visitors' center. Pets are not allowed in the cabins. Santee State Park offers fishing and boating as well as biking and hiking trails.

Canoe South Carolina

Canoe is the place to be if you're looking for a remote and private retreat. Located in the largest private wildlife refuge on the Edisto River, canoe cabins are accessible only by canoe. Cabins are located on stilts above the river, giving them the appearance of tree houses. The cabins, which sleep between two and eight people, are made of all-natural material and feature a full kitchen, futons, outdoor dining area and grills. Guests receive a canoe and paddles to use throughout their stay. The 150-acre wildlife refuge offers shaded hiking trails, cypress/tupelo swamps and abundant wildlife.

Big Water Lake Club

This family-oriented RV resort and park is located on the shores of Lake Marion. In addition to RV sites, the resort offers beach-front cabins with either one, two or three bedrooms. The resort offers many activities, including a stocked 1-acre catch and release pond, a clubhouse, an arcade, a putt-putt golf course, a fitness center and a swimming pool. A driving range is also on-site for adult golfers. Guest services include a launch facility and marina, a large pier and a fish cleaning hut. Pets are allowed on leashes, as long as owners clean up after them.
