Minneola, Florida, is less than a half hour west of Orlando. In the last census taken in 2000, the community had about 5,400 residents. If you have the urge for Thai food, hop on the Florida Turnpike and head for Orlando, where there are some great Thai restaurants that serve large portions at a very reasonable price.

Thai Cuisine

This restaurant prides itself on having both a waitstaff that's attentive and knowledgeable and very tasteful décor. Immediately when you are seated, the waiter will bring you a glass of cold water with lime so that you can cleanse your palate before trying the cuisine. Like most Thai restaurants, Thai Cuisine has a large menu to suit almost any taste. The entrees are well-prepared and plentiful. The menu includes Gaeng Phet Pad Yang, which is duck in red curry with coconut milk, bell peppers, pineapple, carrots, tomatoes and basil leaves, and Pla Sam Rote, a fried fillet or whole fish with triple flavor sauce,fresh ginger, bell peppers, onions and carrots. This restaurant tends to make the entrees more spicy than average.

Ayothaya Thai Cuisine

The cuisine at Ayothaya is beautifully prepared and you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get your bill. This is a very popular place with the locals. the menu is large, but regardless of what you order, expect it to be hot, intricate and plentiful. Start your Thai adventure with Chicken Satay, which is grilled skewered chicken that's been marinated in coconut milk and served with peanut sauce with a cucumber salad. The restaurant's specialty is Gulf of Thai, which is a combination of grilled prawns, squid, scallops, deep-fried soft shell crab and steamed mussels in a spicy sauce.

Sea Thai Restaurant

Sea Thai Restaurant has soothing décor. Combining well-prepared food with the atmosphere, this restaurant is a great place to bring your significant other. Start your meal with an appetizer, of which there are many. There's Chicken Satay, or marinated chicken in a house special style, served with a signature peanut sauce and cucumber salad, and a Tulip Dumpling, which is steamed minced shrimp and chicken, sweet corn and cilantro wrapped in wonton skin topped with roasted garlic and served with a soy vinaigrette sauce. Move onto house specials such as Phad Thai, or sautéed thin rice noodles with shrimps and chicken, eggs, bean sprouts and scallions in a house sauce and served with Jasmine rice.
