Low-Cost Hotels and Bed & Breakfasts in Seaside, Oregon

The quaint town of Seaside, in northwest Oregon, has long been a nature-lover's retreat. In fact, the original thrill-seekers, Lewis and Clark, chose this town as the finale to their journey. The North Gateway Park is perfect for a peaceful nature hike, while Saddle Mountain Trail offers more challenging terrain. And, just as Lewis and Clark picked this locale to rest their bones, you can too at one of Seaside's low-cost hotels and bed and breakfasts.

The Hillcrest Inn

As opposed to a single structure, the Hillcrest Inn is more like a housing community. Sprawled across a beautiful grassy knoll, sprinkled with foliage, the cottages range in size. Plenty of affordable private suites can be found here as well. As of 2010, accommodations with private bathrooms and kitchens run as low as $55 a night or even less for visitors willing to share these amenities. The result is more of a vacation home than a hotel room. Guests can even enjoy their own outdoor barbecues. And with the oceanfront and the Seaside aquarium literally a block away, a spontaneous venture out will not disappoint.

The Sandy Cove Inn

At first glance, the Sandy Cove Inn appears to be a typical ocean-side motel; however, since it is family owned and operated, the personal attention sets this lodging apart from the plethora of chain motels. All of the rooms have Wi-Fi, a TV and a mini-fridge, and most are pet-friendly. Prices listed in spring 2010 start at $64 a night. One of the unique features at Sandy Cove is the handful of themed rooms available. Guest can spend a night in the "Vintage Game Room," the "1940s Room" or even travel down the hall to the "French Countryside." Not to mention the inn is just a couple of blocks from the Seaside promenade.

The Gilbert Inn

The Gilbert Inn is perhaps the most famous lodging in town. This beautiful Victorian structure, built in 1892, was the home of Alexander Gilbert, former mayor of Seaside, and his wife Emma. Aside from the ornate country-home style, each room is fairly standard with a private bath, TV and queen-sized bed. Although it may seem it would be an expensive accommodation, the Gilbert Inn is surprisingly affordable. As of 2010, it offers rooms for as low as $69 a night. For those who would like to pass a night surrounded by classic, traditional country-home decor but not spend a small fortune, this is the place to go. Plus, the inn is just one block east of the beach.
