More than a dozen establishments offer ski-and-stay packages in Mount Shasta. In Northern California, Mount Shasta offers 425 acres of skiable terrain, has 32 trails with three triple chairs, one rope tow and one conveyor lift and has a vertical drop of 1,390 feet. All skill levels of skiers will enjoy this mountain, though more than half of the trails are intermediate. There also are beginner and intermediate terrain parks and a 300-foot-long super halfpipe.

Mount Shasta Resort

This all-season resort, with views of Lake Siskiyou, not only provides a great place to play but also a place to unwind and relax after all of your outdoor activities. You can enjoy a 126-acre, 18-hole golf course, the Evergreen Day Spa, free wireless internet and ski-and-stay packages in the winter.

Mount Shasta Resort offers the Weekday Ski Package, which includes two nights lodging plus a lift ticket voucher for two weekdays for each skier. This includes night skiing on Thursday and Friday nights, and as of March 2010 starts at $127 per person in one of the Woodland Lodge rooms. There also are a Backcountry Ski Package or Snowshoe Package that offer a 4-hour Mount Shasta Winter Tour of your choice with two nights lodging based on a double occupancy in one of the Woodland Lodge rooms, or a quadruple occupancy in a two-bedroom chalet. Rates for this package, as of March 2010, start at $156 per person in a group of four.

Gilden Lodge

This beautiful log-constructed 5,200-square-foot lodge on 2 acres can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people with its four bedrooms, three baths and a spa room. The vaulted interior with a fireplace, large dining area and deck make for a perfect wedding or honeymoon location as well. The lodge is about 2 miles from town center, and its many large windows have views of Mount Shasta.

It is available to rent year-round, but in winter it is a perfect place to make your home base while you ski during the day. Ski passes are available with early reservations. A ski-mud room is offered for those who come ready to hit the slopes of Mount Shasta.

The McCloud River Mercantile Hotel

Decorated with charming 1890s to 1940s style interiors, the individually styled rooms at the McCloud River Mercantile Hotel are a luxurious place to stay after a day of skiing.

Several special packages are offered during the winter, such as the Apres Ski Package. This includes a day and night ski lift ticket, a deep-tissue 60-minute sports massage, Epsom salt soak, hot loose leaf tea and chocolates and full breakfast with a two-night stay. This is based on a double occupancy with a two-night minimum stay, and as of March 2010 rates start at $399. There are also a variety of Family Winter Getaway Packages, which offer downhill ski lift tickets, cross-country ski rentals or a dog sled tour depending on the package. All of these require a two-night minimum stay and include packed lunches, full breakfasts for two adults and two children, salt soaks for the parents, and bubble baths for the kids. Rates as of 2010 start at $459. It is 15 minutes from the city of Mount Shasta.
