Upper Red Lake Fishing Resorts in Minnesota

Upper Red Lake is a mid-size community in the northwest portion of Minnesota. The Chippewa National Forest is to the east of Upper Red Lake. The region is surrounded by lakes and wildlands, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and anglers. The region attracts thousands each year.

West Wind Resort is just outside of the village of Waskish on Upper Red Lake. The lodge/resort has an array of services, lodging and fishing options. It is a year-round resort. Walleye and crappie are the two primary sport fish available. Be sure to have a valid Minnesota fishing license prior to casting a line. The lodge has a kitchen, living room and dining room available for all guests. Lodging options include four-person cabins, two-person cabins or rentals of ice-fishing trailers and cabins. There is a fish-cleaning station, marina, and a bait shop at the resort. Fishing licenses are sold at the bait shop. Pets are not allowed.

Tomahawk Lodge

The Tomahawk Lodge is in Blackduck and situated between Red Lake and Upper Red Lake. The lodge offers guided fishing trips from the resort or offers assistance in planning your own self-guided fishing excursion. The lodge is open year round and offers ice fishing assistance, shelters or guided trips. Crappie, walleye, bluegill and northern pike are popular sport fish taken from the resort. In addition to rooms or cabins, there is a swimming pool, playground, volleyball court, fish cleaning house, recreation room, paddleboats and kayaks. Boat rentals are available at the lodge. Pets are not allowed.

Northshore Bay

Northshore Bay is in the town of Northome between Upper Red Lake and Red Lake. Guided or self-guided fishing trips are offered. There are six log cabins at the resort, each with comfortable queen beds, private baths, showers and kitchenettes. It is possible to fish for walleye, northern, bass, crappie, perch, bluegill and sunfish from the resort. Boat rentals with full marina services, fish-cleaning stations, barbecue grills with charcoal provided, playground with swing set, recreation room and a large fire pit are on the resort property. The owners of the resort ask you bring your own kitchen and bath towels. Dogs are only permitted during duck season.
