From the cathedrals of Barcelona to the museums of Bilbao, Spain has a wide variety of popular cultural tourist destinations. As popular as these historic destinations may be, Spain's seasonable weather, varied terrain and proximity to the ocean make it an ideal destination for activity holidays as well. Indeed, travelers here will find that there are a great number of dynamic excursions and extreme sports from which to choose.

Learn to Kitesurf

Weeklong sessions in Tarifa at the southern tip of Spain will give visitors of all skill levels the opportunity to learn, practice and enjoy the thrill that is kitesurfing. Instruction is tailored to each participant's ability and there is no limit to the amount of time riders may spend in the water each day. Beginners start on trainer kites, and expert riders will have the opportunity to use four-line bow kites. For lodging, participants may choose to camp at a nearby full-service campsite or bunk at a hostel in town instead. Transportation is included, as are no-wind-day activities, lunch on the beach and instructor-led nightlife excursions.
