Washington state is known for its breathtaking scenery and outdoor recreation. The Cascade Mountains, which divide the state, create special landscapes and climate for regions west and east of the mountains. Eastern Washington experiences hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. This climate makes it an exciting destination for vacationers year-round. The region has many lake resorts and campgrounds, and offers vacationers numerous activities and recreation.

Pearrygin Lake State Park

Located in north central Washington, this well-maintained 696-acre campground is a must see of Washington. Also available to rent are cabins and vacation homes. Set in the Methow Valley, this pristine lake is surrounded by green lawns clustered with groves of willow and pine trees that border the lake's sandy beaches. The lake is surrounded by small hills that give the park a sense of privacy and remoteness, without feeling too isolated. The lake is available for boating, fishing and swimming. The quaint Old West-themed town of Winthrop is seven miles from the lake. The Winthrop Twin Lakes loop offers bicyclists and walkers 18.2 miles of gorgeous scenery while getting a good workout. The Methow River, which runs through the town, is popular for whitewater rafting amateurs and enthusiasts. The surrounding hills offer excellent hiking trails, including the picturesque Goat Mountain Lookout. The park is closed November through April.

Lake Chelan

Lake Chelan is more than 50 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, offering numerous outdoor sports and recreation opportunities. Summertime attractions include fishing, swimming, water sports, golf and wine tasting in the surrounding hillside vineyards. The nearby mountains attract many hikers. Chelan is also a hot spot for wintertime activity, for those who enjoy downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. Lake Chelan caters to all tastes and personality types. The 127-acre park offers campers 6,000 feet of shoreline. The extensive, rambling lawns are perfect for strolling or land-games. If you prefer a more luxurious vacation, Chelan hosts multiple lakeside hotels and resorts. Campbell's Resort is one of the lake's more popular resorts, an upscale yet family friendly beachside paradise.

Sunbanks Lake Resort offers multiple accommodation choices. Choose between camping, renting one of the resorts rustic cabins or one of the larger luxurious villas. Banks Lake is part of the National Scenic Byways near the Columbia Plateau and the Grand Coulee Dam.
