German food, beer and culture are held in high regard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. At the city's Oktoberfest festival, celebrated every October, the air is filled with "Oompahs" and raised beer steins. Luckily for vacationers choosing this summer resort, this upbeat, friendly atmosphere can be found year-round at the three German restaurants in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Horst Gasthaus

Enjoy a taste of Barvaria at Horst Gasthaus. Opened in 1984, this German eatery is located just one mile north of Barefoot Landing. Diners can choose from traditional German foods, such as bratwurst and knockwurst, washed down with a draft of Franziskaner Hefe Weiseebier.

All-you-can-eat pork chops is a hit with customers all year-round, as are the daily specials.

During the high season, Horst Gasthaus is open every day but Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until late.

Bodo's German Restaurant and Pub

Many locals and regular visitors to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina consider Bodo's German Restaurant and Pub their "secret." Set off the beaten path, it offers traditional German food in a friendly setting.

While the pub offers imported German drafts, the Champagne is the tipple of choice for cooking. Champagne salad dressing and snails in a Champagne, mushroom and garlic sauce are just two of the specialties of the house.

A host of traditional German dishes are also available. Schnitzels, bratwurst, sauerkraut and homemade meatloaf are served daily. While potato pancakes are offered, reservations for this popular dish are strongly recommended to avoid unnecessary delay and/or disappointment.

Café Old Vienna

Café Old Vienna serves up German food with an Austrian twist. The quaint, family-owned eatery has a menu which includes a host of schnitzel and wurst dishes. Germany and Austria dominate the eatery's wine and beer offerings.

The restaurant opens for lunch from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. from Tuesday through to Saturdays. Evening diners can take in a traditional German, Austrian or European meal on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:00 p.m. On Saturday afternoons, customers can enjoy an "Early Bird" special.

Dinner reservations are strongly recommended.
