The original Bloomingdales can trace its roots back to 1886 at the 59th street location. From then on it gradually expanded to the whole block. FAO Schwarz

FAO Shwarz is the brainchild of Frederick August Otto Schwarz. Starting with a humble beginning in 1862, the store has since become the oldest store of its kind in the United States. Its current location has been serving the shoppers of 5th avenue since 1986. Inside you can find toys and collectibles ranging from popular "must haves" to rare finds. Stuffed animals and dolls by "Madame Alexander" and Brownstone buddies are just some of the items you can find.
