Chart House Restaurant
Offering a pleasant ambiance and a spot perched right on the Potomac River, the Chart House Restaurant is a favorite with everyone who strolls through Old Town. A window table affords a view of the U.S. Capitol building to the north and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, connecting Virginia and Maryland, to the south. Enjoy the prime rib, a specialty of the house, or one of the many seafood dishes, as you watch the passing boats.

Mai Thai
Even though the Mai Thai restaurant is situated a block off the Potomac because of the grassy Waterfront Park that has the prime spot at the river's edge, the upper floors of the restaurant offer views of the water. As its name suggests, the Mai Tai drinks are a house specialty, sweet and strong. Classic Thai dishes such as Pad See Eew and Pad Thai are featured on the menu, along with chef's specialties, including honey ginger duck. Downstairs, a sweeping bar area fills up with locals and tourists who are more concerned about the drinks than the view.

Chadwicks
A Washington-area institution, this charming red brick restaurant with a neighborhood feel is set back from the river by a parking lot, but it considers itself "waterfront." Ask for a table upstairs by the window and you'll be able to enjoy a view of the Potomac River. Unfortunately, trees and a building block the view of the U.S. Capitol to the left in the distance. To the right, you'll be able to see the Woodrow Wilson Bridge that connects Virginia to Maryland. Several large tables upstairs make Chadwicks a great spot for the whole family and out-of-town guests. The menu offers salads, burgers, pastas, steak and seafood dishes. Wash it all down with Potomac Punch, a tasty bar beverage that truly packs a punch.
