Longhorn Cavern State Park
Limestone caves are the big draw at Longhorn Cavern State Park in Burnet. Guides lead 90-minute tours of Longhorn Cavern, a massive cave where confederates once made gun powder and where legend has it that an outlaw once hid $2 million in cash.
The cavern tours are operated by a concessionaire, but the 645-acre park area surrounding the cave offers 2 miles of hiking trails and picnic areas available for day use.
