Fishing enthusiasts arriving in Quanicassee, Michigan, will discover a number of fish species lurking in the waters of Lake Huron. You may might catch walleye, perch or bass. Northern pike, sunfish and catfish may also tug at your line. Camping and boating options are available all along Saginaw Bay, from Bay City west of Quanicassee to Unionville heading east from the town. Charters and fishing guides also operate on these waters.

Quanicassee River is actually a stream draining into Tuscola County near Vanderbilt Park in the area of Michigan known as the Thumb. The 18-acre park offers camping at 32 sites. Lindy's Landing rents slips right on Saginaw Bay for anglers bringing their own boats. The river boasts salmon, brown trout and lake trout, plus other species common to Saginaw Bay. Lindy's Landing provides quick access to deep waters and the walleye that feed there. Finn Road Campground in nearby Essexville includes 48 campsites and boat launch straight out into Saginaw Bay.

Bay City Recreation Area

With trail access to fishing at Tobico Lagoon, Bay City Recreation Area makes a convenient base for a fishing retreat. Catch northern pike, perch and sunfish. Bass make their home here, too. Reserve one of the 263 sites at the Bay City Recreation Area Campground for the night and access their visitors' center to find more amenities for fishing adventures. Walleye Express Charters operates just a few minutes out of Bay City in Essexville, offering fishing trips for one to six people. Walleye Express also runs ice fishing trips, allowing anglers to visit the area all year-round. From Bay City a shipping channel stretches out into Lake Huron and along its edge, fishermen seek walleye and perch. Trolling crank-baits and crawler spinner rigs are popular methods of fishing these waters.

Just minutes east of Quanicassee, Unionville fishermen enjoy easy access to the water at Sunset Bay Marina with their short channel leading to deep water. A little further inland is Krystal Lake Campground in Vassar. The 200-plus site campground offers boat rentals for fishing on 33 acres of lake right outside your tent. Ber-wa-ga-na Campground, also in Vassar, sits on 67 wooded acres. Close to Unionville, stay at one of Sebewaing County Park's 64 campsites on 20 acres along the edge of Sebewaing River. Sebewaing River Campground boat launch gains you easy access to the waters of Saginaw Bay and the fish you aim to catch. You can also fish right from the dock at the camp.
